Cairo: Ponte Sud – Ashraf Gaber
The Turkish Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with the Palestinian Embassy, the Egyptian association “Awlady,” and the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (İHH), organized a celebration for Eid Al-Adha, which included the distribution of sacrificial meat.
Around 700 people attended the event, including 400 victims from Gaza, in a solidarity initiative held at the Turkish Embassy in Cairo with the participation of the Palestinian Embassy, İHH, and “Awlady” association.

The event was attended by Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen, members of the Turkish Embassy in Cairo, the Yunus Emre Institute, Turkish Airlines, A JET Airlines, and several journalists and representatives from Egyptian and Turkish media.
In his speech, the Turkish ambassador welcomed the guests, stating that the deteriorating situation in Gaza dampens the joy of Eid for the Muslim world. He expressed his prayers for Palestine to achieve freedom and independence and for the Palestinian people to live with dignity and security.

Ambassador Şen mentioned that this initiative allowed them to reach some Gaza residents and witness their reality firsthand. He expressed hopes to implement more humanitarian relief activities soon for Palestinians residing in Egypt and those in need in Gaza, in collaboration with Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the Turkish Red Crescent, and Turkish civil society organizations.
He added: “I hope that peace, security, and prosperity prevail for our oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters, for the entire Muslim world, and for all of humanity during this blessed Eid.”

Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen emphasized that Turkey, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, considers assisting victims and the oppressed across the Muslim world and globally as a duty. This event, he stated, is an embodiment of that responsibility.
He also acknowledged Egypt’s significant efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and praised the strong historical ties between Turkey and Egypt, describing Egyptians as brothers to the Turkish people.
Ambassador Şen mentioned his recent meeting with the Palestinian ambassador, who praised Turkey’s efforts. He explained that the Eid celebration was organized in cooperation with the Palestinian Embassy, which helped identify participating families.

The ambassador highlighted the close collaboration between Turkish companies, Turkish NGOs in Egypt, and Egyptian civil society organizations. He expressed appreciation for İHH’s role in organizing the event and providing sacrificial meat, thanking them for their contributions to this charitable initiative.
In conclusion, Ambassador Şen reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to continuing social, cultural, and humanitarian activities through close cooperation with Turkish civil society organizations and businesses. He extended Eid Al-Adha greetings to participants and expressed hopes to meet again in much better circumstances in future celebrations ones in which the Palestinian people celebrate in peace, security, and dignity.
