The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan officially announced the agreements reached with the American company Starlink to provide satellite Internet in the country.
According to the signed document, Starlink undertakes to comply with the legislation of Kazakhstan when providing satellite Internet services.
As explained by the press service of the department, the terminals of the American company will provide access to communications for schools in villages, remote medical institutions and other infrastructure facilities where it is difficult to install fiber-optic networks.
Minister Zhaslan Madiyev noted that Starlink had previously operated in the country in “pilot mode,” providing satellite Internet access to local schools.
The new agreement will allow residents of the country to officially and legally connect to satellite Internet by purchasing, using, and registering terminals.
“Currently, the technical and organizational conditions are being coordinated, including the parameters for providing services to private users.
All stages of the project will be carried out in compliance with national legislation, including security requirements,” the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan stated.
