The South Kalimantan Provincial Government is seeking to expand its export reach and investment partnerships through participation in the 2025 China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS).

Acting Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan, Syarifuddin, told ANTARA in Banjarmasin on Thursday that the provincial government is committed to seizing opportunities to attract global investors through these international events.

“Participation in these events is crucial for promoting local products and regional potential, as well as for building relationships with entrepreneurs, distributors, and investors from China and ASEAN,” Syarifuddin said.

South Kalimantan is set to take part in the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo, scheduled to be held in Nanning City, Guangxi, China, from September 17 to 21, 2025.

CAEXPO 2025 is expected to draw more than 4,000 participants from various countries, offering opportunities across multiple sectors including investment, services, and tourism.

During the expo, South Kalimantan will showcase its leading commodities, tourism attractions, service industries, and cultural heritage to international audiences, particularly from ASEAN countries and China.

The province is preparing a dedicated pavilion to feature top products from micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and to promote its agricultural, mining, tourism, and cultural sectors.

Syarifuddin emphasized that South Kalimantan’s participation in CAEXPO is a strategic move to strengthen economic and cultural ties with China.

“This is a golden opportunity for South Kalimantan to introduce its top products, unlock investment potential, and expand export markets. Moreover, China is a vast and dynamic market,” he noted.

The provincial government also plans to facilitate business matching between local entrepreneurs and international partners, aiming to foster cooperation and support sustainable export growth.

China remains one of Indonesia’s key trading partners with significant global influence. According to data from the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board, China’s investment in Indonesia reached US$8.1 billion in 2024. Meanwhile, bilateral trade between the two nations stood at US$135.17 billion, according to Statistics Indonesia.
