Fourteen life-size dinosaur replicas have taken over Ribeiro Park at the entrance to Albufeira, transforming the green space into a prehistoric adventure for all ages. The free open-air exhibition, called “Dinosaur Garden,” opened on July 2 and will run until August 24.
Species from the Triassic to the Cretaceous periods, the exhibition includes favorites like the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Iguanodon, and Pterodactylus. All models come from Dino Parque in Lourinhã, the largest dinosaur-themed open-air museum in Europe, and are scientifically certified and true to scale, with some measuring up to 13 meters long.
Mayor José Carlos Rolo, who attended the opening along with members of the executive and other guests, remarked on how the display captures the imagination and makes you reflect on these extraordinary creatures. This is the second time Albufeira has hosted the exhibition, the first being in 2021.
At night, the park becomes even more immersive, with dramatic lighting and sound effects simulating the calls of dinosaurs, creating a magical and educational experience for both children and adults.
The exhibition also ties into the Algarvensis Geopark project, as dinosaur footprints have been found locally at Praia dos Arrifes, highlighting the Algarve’s unique paleontological heritage.
