Frenchman Nicolas Prodhomme (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale) won by a wide margin the 19th stage of the Giro d’Italia Friday from Biella to Champoluc, 166 km with a 4,950 m difference in altitude.
Mexican 21-year-old Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates), who came in second, retains the pink jersey as race leader.
The Mexican responded to every attack on the Alpine stage, including the final one by Ecuadorian Antonio Carapaz, second in the general classification and third in today’s stage.
